National Organ and Tissue Donor Awareness Week
April 16 to 23, 2016, is National Organ and Tissue Donor Awareness Week.
This week is particularly important when we consider that more than 4,500 Canadians are currently on organ transplant waiting lists. For many, their lives are very much in the balance as they wait for an organ transplant.
Because demand outstrips supply, many people die before a donor match is found.
National Organ and Tissue Donor Awareness Week is an opportunity for us to pause and give some thought to becoming donors.
While it may be your intention to become a donor and you have informed your loved ones of that decision, it is important to register as a donor. The process to register as a donor and decide what you wish to donate differs depending on your home province or territory.
If you live in Ontario, go HERE. If you live in other parts of Canada, please find your province in the below list.
