Canada Summer Jobs provides funding to help employers create summer job opportunities for students focusing both on students and their communities. I was glad to see that sixty-nine businesses and over 100 students from Lambton-Kent-Middlesex participated in the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) Program in 2014.
I had the opportunity and privilege to visit many of the companies many from summer camps to museums and everything in between over the summer. During these visits, I was provided a tour of the facilities and informed about the student’s job description.
I heard a lot of positive feedback from those involved and learned more about the organizations that took part in the program. An initiative of the Summer Work Experience program, CSJ provides government funding, in the millions of dollars, for not-for-profit organizations, public-sector employers, and small businesses with 50 or fewer full-time employees. It creates summer job opportunities for students between the ages of 15 and 30.
