CPMA Produce Champion 2018
This spring I was advised by the Canadian Produce Marketing Association that I was being awarded the 2018 Produce Champion Award. I am honoured and humbled by this as agriculture has always held a special place in my heart. The CPMA is hosting a dinner and ceremony on August 14, 2018 at the Czech Hall in Dresden with industry leaders and stakeholders in attendance. Anyone who would like to attend this free event which will feature a demonstration by Canadian Chef Michael Smith, please rsvp to https://mpbevshipleyproducechampion.eventbrite.ca
NAFTA
Canadian and Mexican government officials have met several times to discuss NAFTA. They both have stated they are only interested in a trilateral trade agreement and believe a deal will be struck in the next few months. One in five Canadian jobs are created as a result of free trade agreements and it’s critical that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau continues to protect these well-paying, high-quality jobs. The fact that the Prime Minister released a federal budget that doesn’t contain a contingency plan if NAFTA is terminated or promote policies that make Canada a more attractive place to invest and do business is unacceptable. Canada’s Conservatives’ will continue to work with the government of Canada and bring forward concrete ideas to defend local jobs.
